Stonewolf Studios has officially been open since November 2014, but our team has collectively worked in the entertainment field since 2002.
We are artists, technicians, and management staff who specialize in bringing productions to vivid visual life. Our focus is mainly corporate events and outdoor lasershows, and we also bring our talents to the arts including dance, musical theatre, and environmental art installations.
Stonewolf Studios has toured with productions in Spain, Germany, China, Bulgaria, Japan, Canada, and most major venues in the United States. Notable clients include Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Natya Dance Theatre, Muntu Dance Theatre, and many more. We are honored to have worked with venues such as The Auditorium Theatre in Chicago, Nashville Speedway, The Bauhaus in Germany, The Joyce Theatre and Carnegie Hall in New York City.
We are ILDA (International Laser Display Association) recognized and certified, and are also honored to have received two Black Theatre Alliance — Best Lighting Design awards.
How We Work
Stonewolf Studios strives to create a collaborative and inclusive environment. We are dedicated to making our producers and directors’ visions come to life, often growing those visions in ways they never would have imagined.
We will never tell clients an outright ‘NO’ to any idea, and in the few cases we do need to decline an idea — usually involving safety issues — we immediately come up with alternate solutions that keep the essence of the vision, but make provisions for safety and budgetary concerns.
We address possible points of failure and contingencies up front in the planning stages and we leave nothing to chance. We provide a unique visual aesthetic and production style.
Meet the Founders of Stonewolf Studios
Dustin
Lighting Lead, Laser Safety Officer, CEO
One of Stonewolf’s three founding members, Dustin has been a lighting and entertainment professional since 2001. His work focuses mainly in the dance, musical theatre, and corporate lighting design realms, where he is known for creating beautiful stage pictures with a strong command of vivid color and intense atmospheric effects.
More and more, however, Dustin is finding himself working on large scale laser shows and unique laser installation projects. He has a great passion for blending technology and artistry which quickly becomes apparent in his work.
Some of Dustin’s more notable projects have been Lighting Design for Love Infinite with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Laser design for Morton Arboretum “Illuminations” in collaboration with Lightswitch, and Laser Design for Sky Wars, the world’s largest pyrotechnics competition.
In addition to designing lights and lasers, Dustin is a Licensed Commercial Drone Pilot and has shot a variety of drone and video projects in the past several years.
Sarah
Production Manager, Lead Stage Manager, and Lighting Designer
One of Stonewolf’s founding members, Sarah has worked in the entertainment industry since 2003. She primarily works in dance and music. As a production and stage manager, Sarah brings an eye for detail and enthusiasm for organization. She has crafted thorough paperwork festival crews love as well as detailed inventory databases directors and designers alike swear by.
Sarah has stage managed for many DCASE festivals including the Chicago Blues and Jazz festivals and continues to production stage manage for Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater, and Muntu Dance Theatre.
As a designer, Sarah creates vivid color underlaying a balanced neutral tone, playing with texture highlights. Her design work can be seen with Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, the Ruth Page Center, Synapse Arts Collective, and Asian Improv Arts Midwest. Past works include pieces with Chicago Repertory Ballet and Inaside Chicago Dance.
